Manuel Pellegrini: Injury update on Silva, Nasri and Bony

By

Manchester City boss Manuel Pellegrini says attacking midfielder David Silva will be in the squad to face Aston Villa on Saturday.

The Spain international joins midfielder James Milner and striker Wilfried Bony in making a comeback for the Citizens but Gael Clichy, Stevan Jovetic and Samir Nasri are all ruled out.

"David [Silva] worked the whole week with no problems, we have injuries to Clichy, Jovetic and Nasri but Milner also worked without any problems," Pellegrini said.

"Wilfried Bony has also recovered for this game.

"It's important to see how Vincent will improve in the next week. I think he'll be missing for at least two weeks more - I think then after two games, if he continues to work well, he can be fit.

"Nasri has a muscle injury from the last game. In the last minute, he started playing and he sustained a muscle injury. We hope it's a small problem."

Asked if Aston Villa could suffer a lapse in concentration after reaching the FA Cup Final, the Chilean said: "I don't think that Aston Villa will not be concentrated.

"One thing is the final of the FA Cup, the other thing is battling against relegation. For this reason, it will be a very tough game.

"[I expect them to play] Similar to the way they played against Liverpool. They are a team that try to play as an offensive team. We are used to playing eight or nine players defending.

"It depends on the way they play what we will do but we will continue our style. I know we have made mistakes but we continue to be the team who play the most attractive football and score the most goals.

"Personal mistakes, team mistakes – when you are unsuccessful, everything can go wrong.

"For me, it's never satisfying if you can't win the title but if you don't win it, you have to finish as high as possible."
