Manager Manuel Pellegrini opted not to comment on rumours linking Swansea striker Wilfried Bony with a move to Manchester City.
On Thursday, Swansea City manager Garry Monk said that the Citizens have to meet the 26-year-old's £30m value if they want to sign him but Pellegrini preferred not to confirm the rumours during Friday's press conference ahead of the game against Everton.
"I don't talk about rumours. We are going to replace Alvaro Negredo because it was the decision that we've taken that we're going to sell him.
"We said we'd see in December if we need another striker. We need another striker so we are going to find which is the best player to play here.
"We must be in FFP [Uefa's financial fair play] so I don't think we are going to spend a lot. We sell already Alvaro Negredo so we have some money to spend.
"At the moment, if we bring another player, we must see which of the players will not be in the squad for Champions League because we don't have space for a new player but that is a decision we are going to take one day before we need to do it, and that may be around the middle of February."
Pellegrini also revealed that the club is ready to listen to offers for defender Matija Nastasic and winger Scott Sinclair.
"They are working with us, Nastasic and Sinclair, without any problem," the Chilean said.
"They are part of the squad. We will see if there are good offers for them and for the club. If not, they will work with us here."
