Mamadou Sakho: We demonstrated a good mentality

By

Liverpool defender Mamadou Sakho says mental strength was the key to their victory against Tottenham Hotspur on Tuesday night.

The Reds continued their impressive run of form with a hard-fought 3-2 win over Mauricio Pochettino's side as they moved to just one point from Spurs.

"It was a very good game for the team," Sakho told the club's official website.

"We were very strong mentally and we stayed focused on our objective.

"I think altogether we worked for this and tonight I think the team stayed focused and we demonstrated a good mentality."

Striker Mario Balotelli was the hero for the Reds after he scored his first goal in the Premier League for the club and Sakho expects more of the same from the Italian in the future.

"It's great news for him, for the team and for the club," the defender added.

"I hope he will score many goals for the team because he is a very good man and I know every day he works hard in training. I'm happy for him."
