Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers was full of praise for the players who featured on Tuesday against Swansea City.
The Reds produced a late comeback to battle their way past the Swans in the League Cup and the manager says a number of players who featured in mid-week could again feature this weekend against Newcastle United.
"It's why we strengthened the squad, for weeks like this," Rodgers said.
"We made nine changes from the team against Hull to the team against Swansea on Tuesday, and come out with a victory.
"It's a really exciting week, and that's the key. Newcastle will be a tough game, but one that we will relish. And that's the only focus really, we will look to get the three points and go from there.
"We will come into the Newcastle game with big confidence. We had an excellent result the other night, and we played as well as we've done all season in the first half.
"Jose [Enrique] is still not available, it's just an issue with his knee. He won't be available for the squad.
"When you have players out, that is more difficult, but you need to find the solution in different ways. That's what we've been trying to do, and as each day goes by I sense that we're getting better.
"With Daniel [Sturridge] out, it's a miss, but it's also an opportunity. We saw the other night, we gave opportunities to those who haven't featured so much, and they were outstanding."
