Liverpool move for Reading goalkeeper Alex McCarthy

Liverpool have joined Queens Park Rangers in the race to sign Reading goalkeeper Alex McCarthy, according to Metro.

According to reports in Italy, the Reds made contact with Sampdoria for Sergio Romero but are also ready to present a £4m offer for the 24-year-old who was also linked with Arsenal at the start of the transfer window.

Derby County sign Jordon Ibe on loan

Meanwhile, Derby County announced on their official website that 18-year-old Jordon Ibe has joined from Liverpool on a season-long deal.

Head coach Steve McClaren was delighted after the deal was sealed as he described the youngster as a player with a lot of potential.

"We’re delighted that Liverpool have again chosen to loan us one of their promising young players," McClaren told the club's official website.

"Jordon Ibe is someone who we’ve been aware of for quite a while and have been impressed whenever we’ve seen him in action.

"He has a lot of potential and we believe that we can help his career development."
