Chelsea to make bid in the next 24 hours to sign midfielder wanted by Antonio Conte

By

Chelsea will increase their bid for Danny Drinkwater to £25million within the next 24 hours, Express Sport has claimed.

The Blues are still desperately searching for a midfielder to replace Nemanja Matic.

The absence of the Serbian was clear as the Blues already suffered their first Premier League defeat of the season.

Last week, Foxes boss Craig Shakespeare made it clear that the player is not for sale.

"We don't want to be a selling club, we want to add to it," Shakespeare told reporters when asked about Drinkwater.

"We don't want to sell our best players. The speculation is always going to be out there at this time of year.

"You know when you have good players there might be an interest in them. You have to deal with reality but also keep a calmness about you as well."
