"Antonio Conte wants him" - Sky Sports presenter says insider told him Chelsea want Premier League defender

By

talkSPORT and Sky Sports presenter Jim White says Chelsea want to sign Danny Drinkwater and wants Virgil van Dijk before the end of the summer transfer window.

The Englishman gave on Twitter an update on how the Blues intend to move in the last few weeks of the market window.

"Top source reveals @ChelseaFC boss Antonio Conte wants Virgil van Dijk and is big admirer of Danny Drinkwater," he wrote.

Recent reports have claimed that the Italian manager has identified the Leicester City man as the one to take over from Nemanja Matic in midfield.

And he also wants to strengthen his offensive department by signing of the most-wanted centre-backs in Europe.

van Dijk is also a target for Liverpool but the Saints have made it clear they don't want to sell to the Reds after their illegal approach to sign the Dutchman.
