Agreement reached and contract signed: Chelsea announce defender transfer deal is done and dusted

By

Chelsea defender Matt Miazga will continue his loan spell at Vitesse Arnhem, the Blues have confirmed.

The 22-year-old played 23 games for the Dutch side last season as they went on to win the Dutch Cup.

He was in action with the USA squad at this summer's Gold Cup and was delighted after the transfer was completed.

"I felt very welcome and we have all made historic success," the youngster said.

"That success will be expanded this coming season and I will continue to develop myself.

"That's why I returned as soon as possible after winning the Gold Cup. We are going to compete for the second prize in the club's history."

Vitesse's technical director Mo Allach added: "We would like Matt to have another year in our selection and in this way we also double the positions in the defence.

"The fact that he chose for us again and wanted to connect directly after the Gold Cup has his mentality."
