Chelsea in "late attempt" to sign midfielder Jose Mourinho wants at Manchester United

By

Chelsea have made a late attempt to sign Bayern Munich midfielder Renato Sanches on loan, according to the Independent.

The Portugal international is also a target for Manchester United.

United boss Jose Mourinho wanted to sign him during last year's summer transfer window but the youngster decided to move to the German Bundesliga.

He struggled to make an impact in Carlo Ancelotti's squad and the Italian confirmed earlier this week that the 19-year-old could leave the club.

"At this time, he's training with us," Ancelotti told reporters.

"We have to make a decision.

"A move could be a possibility but there is also a chance he could stay with us for the season."
