Chelsea to make midfielder their fifth summer signing after Roman Abramovich gives Antonio Conte green light

Chelsea are readying a move to sign Everton midfielder Tom Davies this summer, according to Metro.

The youngster is one of the many midfielders identified by manager Antonio Conte to strengthen his squad ahead of next season.

The article claims that Roman Abramovich gave the Italian the nod to spend big in the coming weeks.

Alex Sandro, Virgil van Dijk, Fernando Llorente and Antonio Candreva continue to be linked with a move to Stamford Bridge.

Conte has £140million to spend before the transfer window shuts down this summer.

19-year-old Davies played 24 games in the English Premier League last season.

He scored his first goal for Everton in 4-0 win over Manchester City back in January.
