"They will open talks next week" - Chelsea determined to sign Premier League star before end of month

By

Chelsea will next week open talks to sign Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain from Arsenal.

Express Sport has claimed on Friday that the Blues have joined the race to sign the Englishman.

The 23-year-old is also a target for Jurgen Klopp's Liverpool.

He featured in Saturday's 3-0 pre-season friendly defeat against Chelsea.

The Englishman's contract with the Gunners expires next year and he has no intention of signing a new deal this summer.

Manager Antonio Conte is closely monitoring events and will make an official move to sign him if the North Londoners decide to sell.

At the start of the month, manager Arsene Wenger said the player will not leave the Emirates.

"Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain will stay. 100 per cent I expect him to stay," he said.

"There is no speculation. No matter what happens he will stay."
