Confirmed: 162-goal striker will join Chelsea pre-season after talks with Antonio Conte

By

Chelsea striker Diego Costa will start pre-season with the rest of the squad, ESPN has confirmed.

The news that Romelu Lukaku will sign for Manchester United has shocked manager Antonio Conte.

Reports in Italy have claimed that the Italian has made contact with the Spaniard in what could be a shock U-turn.

The Blues are currently without a world class striker having failed to secure the services of the Belgium international.

In the last 24 hours they made contact with Alvaro Morata and James Rodriguez but they are yet to reach a financial agreement with Real Madrid.

The Spanish giants know how desperate Chelsea's situation is and are ready to take advantage by asking at least £80million for either of the two strikers.

Pre-season at the Cobham Training Centre starts next Monday.
