"Almost done" - Chelsea have resumed talks to sign 87-goal striker, announcement imminent

By

Having failed to sign Romelu Lukaku from Everton, Chelsea have resumed talks with Real Madrid to sign striker James Rodriguez.

Calciomercato.it has claimed that the Blues are very close to announcing the signing of the Colombia international.

The 25-year-old, who scored more than 85 goals in his career, is for sale for £70million, a fee Chelsea are ready to pay.

The prolific striker has struggled to secure a regular place at the Santiago Bernabeu and wants to leave ahead of next year's World Cup Finals in Russia.

Rodriguez joined the Spanish giants in the summer of 2014 but has never managed to make an impact in the Spanish Liga.

Manager Antonio Conte was shocked at the news that the Blues failed to secure the services of Lukaku and has ordered the club to seal the transfer of the Colombian.
