Done deal: Defender pictured with jersey at stadium as Chelsea complete transfer of 23-year-old

By

Chelsea have announced on their official website that right-back Todd Kane has left the club to join Groningen on loan.

The 23-year-old was delighted after the agreement has been reached as he took to Twitter to say that he is already looking forward to be back on the pitch.

A photo of the defender with his new jersey was posted by Groningen's official website.

Speaking after signing for the Dutch side, he declared that Ernest Faber - who managed him at NEC Nijmegen last season - was key in his decision to join Groningen.

"I feel that the manage has a massive impact on my career and when he asked me to come I felt that I couldn't turn it down, it was another great opportunity to work with him.

"He called me last season, when i was back at home, i got the call and obviously I answered it and I was very happy and he said 'would I like to play under him again at FC Gronigen?' and I said 'of course'.

"He [the manager] said 'it's a very good club', it's very different to NEC, I can see already it's a bigger club but you know I will take it as another club that I'm happy to join."
