"They are interested" - Chelsea open talks with Premier League rivals to conclude defender deal

Crystal Palace are interested in signing Chelsea defender Kurt Zouma on loan according to reports in England.

The 22-year-old is returning from a serious injury and may struggle to enjoy regular first-team football at Stamford Bridge.

But on Wednesday, the defender made it clear that his objective is to start pre-season with Chelsea and to fight for a regular place in Antonio Conte's squad.

"No, [I'm not leaving], I'm very happy at Chelsea. I hear the rumours, it’s flattering," he is quoted as saying by the Daily Star.

"It means I'm a player people are looking at, but I'm not going to stop there. My objective is to stay at Chelsea.

"Next season, we'll start from scratch, there will be a lot of games. The cards will be on the table. It's up to me to work hard.

"I wanted to be really certain I could come back [from injury], and to have the knowledge that I wouldn't be stopped in my tracks again.

"It was the right thing to do."
