Chelsea manager Antonio Conte plotting £55million summer swoop for one of Europe's best

By

Barcelona are leading the race to sign Paris Saint-German midfielder Marco Verratti, the Daily Star reports.

The Italy international will ask the French giants to leave if the Spanish giants make an offer during the summer transfer window.

Chelsea boss Antonio Conte is also interested, having been an admirer of the 24-year-old for years.

The Sun revealed earlier this month that the Blues are ready to offer £55million to secure the services of the talented midfielder.

Always this month, agent Donato Di Campli explained that the player is expected to stay in France at least for one more season.

"We will meet with the club [this summer]," Di Campli said.

"They already made it clear that they don't want to sell him and we have to respect their decision."
