Chelsea in advanced talks to sign former Premier League star - player could complete a medical tomorrow

By

Chelsea are in advanced talks to sign Fiorentina left-back Marcos Alonso, according to Sky Sports.

The Blues are ready to offer £24million to secure the services of the former Bolton Wanderers and Sunderland defender who is expected in London on Tuesday.

On Sunday, Fiorentina sporting director Carlos Freitas has refused to deny reports claiming that the 25-year-old will leave the club in the next two days.

It seems manager Antonio Conte has accepted defeat in his attempts to sign Kalidou Koulibaly and Alessio Romagnoli and will deploy Branislav Ivanovic in a more central role in the heart of the defence.

Cesar Azpilicueta would move on the right with Alonso taking over on the left wing.

A number of Serie A clubs have also been linked with a move for the player but reports in Italy have claimed that he wants to embark on yet another adventure in the English Premier League.
