Chelsea boss Antonio Conte ready to enter race to sign Arsenal defender target

By

Chelsea have joined Arsenal in the race to sign Valencia defender Shkodran Mustafi according to Soccerlens.

Recent reports have claimed that the Gunners have already made contact to sign the 24-year-old but their first bid of £15million was laughed off by the Spanish giants who demand at least £25million for the player.

The Blues are ready to take advantage of this as manager Antonio Conte wants to strengthen his defensive department.

On Tuesday, Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger opted to stay quiet about reports linking the Gunners with a move for the Germany international.

"[Shkodran Mustafi?] We have not closed any deal with anybody at the moment," he said.

"That’s the answer. You speak about Mustafi. Is it Mustafi or anybody else - we haven’t concluded anything at the moment."
