£227,000-a-week striker gives Chelsea an important update on his situation

By

Shanghai SIPG striker Asamoah Gyan says it is not true he will leave China to make a move to Stamford Bridge.

The 30-year-old has been linked with a possible move to Chelsea last month but he rubbished the rumours as he confirmed that the Blues made no approach to sign him.

In July, the Ghanaian became one of the world’s highest paid footballers after reports claimed he signed a contract worth £227,000 a week.

"There is nothing like I'm joining Chelsea FC," he is quoted as saying by the Chronicle Live.

"There hasn't been any offer.

"My team is not sacking me. All these stories are not true."
