Ruben Loftus-Cheek: What I said to myself before my European debut for Chelsea

By

Chelsea midfielder Ruben Loftus-Cheek was determined to enjoy himself during Wednesday's Champions League game against Maccabi Tel Aviv.

The 19-year-old was making his European debut for the club and was crowned man of the match after the final whistle.

And he believes that the 4-0 win was the perfect way to prepare Saturday's tough away match against Arsenal.

"I just said to myself before the game to try and enjoy the moment," he told Chelsea's official website.

"I really enjoyed myself all through the game and I tried to play my best football so I'm really happy. I'll keep working and doing my best in training to get more minutes.

"We played some really good football going forward and defensively, so I think the players all got a big lift. We are relieved to get the win. We just want to push on now.

"We have got to stick together as a team and fight through the situation. We take this win and the confidence we have got from it into the weekend."
