Chelsea turn attention to Arsenal defender target after admitting defeat in pursuit for John Stones

By

Chelsea are weighing up a transfer move for Olympique de Marseille defender Nicolas N’Koulou after losing out in their pursuit of John Stones, Metro has revealed.

Everton boss Roberto Martinez told reporters that the youngster "didn't mean to" hand in a transfer request as he again confirmed that the centre-back will not leave Goodison Park.

Chelsea made three official bids to sign the 21-year-old and are still searching for a defender before the end of the transfer window.

A late bid for the Cameroon international will be made in the coming hours with Arsenal and Sevilla also showing interest.
