Chelsea and Manchester United £40m target "has not requested transfer"

Everton manager Roberto Martinez has rejected claims that defender John Stones has made a request to leave the club.

The future of the 21-year-old remains uncertain even though Everton rejected bids of £20m and £26m.

Chelsea and Manchester United are both ready to secure the services of the youngster who has a market transfer value of £40m according to his club.

"Not at all, no, [John Stones didn't ask to leave]," Martinez told reporters on Friday.

"[He] has been the hot topic of this transfer window. My only concern is preparing for the game."
