Chelsea's £66m striker deal is on according to Italian website

By

Chelsea are giving everything to sign Napoli striker Gonzalo Higuain, according to Metro.

Even if the 27-year-old has already featured in a number of pre-season friendlies for the Italian club, his future remains uncertain.

If he stays at Napoli, he will not feature in this season's Champions League, a competition the striker is desperate to play.

The Blues are ready to meet his £66m buy-out clause in order to have a world-class backup for Diego Costa.

The Spaniard already suffered a hamstring injury this month and boss Jose Mourinho wants to have another world-class striker in his squad in order to rotate as much as possible.
