Chelsea midfielder Marco Van Ginkel all set to join Newcastle United

By

Chelsea midfielder Marco Van Ginkel will join Newcastle United, Dutch newspaper Algemeen Dagblad has revealed.

The 22-year-old spent last season on loan at Milan and became a solid regular in coach Filippo Inzaghi's squad.

In April, agent Karel Jansen revealed that the Dutchman's desire was to stay at Chelsea but securing a regular place in Jose Mourinho's squad was always going to be difficult.

"We don't know yet – his future is unclear at the moment," Jansen told the Guardian in April.

"He is now playing regularly for Milan but we still have to discuss next season with Chelsea.

"I think it will be decided next month or by the start of the transfer window. But there is no pressure.

"The goal for Marco is to return to Chelsea so we will see what happens. It is all dependable on what they want to do."
