Chelsea join Manchester United in race to sign Real Madrid defender

By

Chelsea have joined the race to complete the £50m transfer of Real Madrid defender Sergio Ramos, Metro reports.

The defender's current contract runs out in June 2017 and his desire is to extend his stay at the Santiago Bernabeu.

But Ramos' agent and brother, Rene, confirmed that the Spaniard could leave the club this summer.

"For now he still has two years of contract. We await the call of the club but Real Madrid have not called me," his agent said.

"For now there are no talks. Perhaps it is best if he doesn't finish his career at Real Madrid but at another club. We never know.

"Football is changing so fast – you must enjoy the moment."

Manchester United are reported to be strong favourites to land the experienced defender if he leaves the Spanish giants.
