Confirmed: £43.5m Chelsea target to stay in the Spanish Liga

By

Atletico Madrid winger Antoine Griezmann has confirmed that he will continue in the Spanish Liga next season.

The 23-year-old was rumoured to be one of Chelsea's main targets for the summer transfer window but was full of gratitude to the Atletico fans ahead of pre-season.

"I want to thank the fans for all their support," the Frenchman is quoted as saying by the Daily Star.

"I wanted to do my best and I did the best I could.

"We will give everything to have a good pre-season and be prepared for big matches and the Champions League.

"I want to score as many goals as I did this season, or more, next season."

Four days ago, boss Jose Mourinho confirmed that the Blues will not make a move for the Frenchman.

"Griezmann is a great forward, but he is not one of our objectives to reinforce the squad for the coming season. We're not interested", the Portuguese told Marca.
