Chelsea and Manchester United to make bid for Atletico Madrid central defender

By

Atletico Madrid central defender Joao Miranda is ready to leave the Spanish Liga to join Chelsea, according to AS.

The 30-year-old has one year left at Atletico but is yet to be offered a new contract.

Manchester United are also reported to be chasing the Brazilian.

Asked about the possibility of joining Louis van Gaal at Old Trafford, the player said to be flattered about the link.

"Of course this news reaches me, and it makes me happy. It shows I am doing well," he told Estadao.

"It makes me proud, but my intention is to stay at Atletico because I still have a year and a half on my contract."
