Nemanja Matic: Loic Remy can fill boots of absent Diego Costa

By

Chelsea midfielder Nemanja Matic believes Loic Remy is a more than adequate replacement for suspended Diego Costa.

26-year-old Costa was banned for three matches for stamping on Liverpool's Emre Can during last week's Capital One Cup semi-final and will miss upcoming games against Aston Villa and Everton in the Premier League.

But the Serbian is convinced that Remy, who scored Chelsea's goal against Manchester City on Saturday, has enough quality to lead the Blues' offensive department.

"[Loic] Remy did a good job. He scored a goal and did exactly what the coach wanted from him," Matic told Chelsea TV.

"He gives us more confidence now for the next game. I'm very excited for the next game, how he's going to play.

"Now people will see he's a very good player and he's going to be very important for us."
