Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho described his side's win against Schalke 04 as the team's most impressive performance away from home.
The Portuguese stressed the importance of reaching the next round of the Champions League with a game to spare in his pre-match press conference and the Blues' response was immediate as they eased past Roberto di Matteo's side by 5-0.
"I don't remember Chelsea playing this way away from home," said Mourinho.
"Obviously, there have been great wins away from home with me, Roberto and other managers. But this was very impressive. Very complete.
"I think they have to accept we were too strong for them.
"When you lose against a team that produces a perfect performance and a perfect result it's not your fault."
