Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho says the performance of his players at Old Trafford was fantastic.
Didier Drogba's first goal in the English Premier League this season looked to be the winning goal but a late Robin van Persie strike denied the Blues from taking maximum points.
Unbeaten Chelsea continue to lead the table with impressive Southampton second and Manchester City third.
"From the start of the first half we showed we wanted to win," Mourinho told BBC's Match of the Day.
"The second half was much better. In the second half we didn't give them chances they wanted. To come here to Old Trafford the way we did - it was fantastic to my boys.
"We don't look to others, we look to ourselves. Old Trafford is one most dangerous fixtures we've had.
"The result is not the result we want, but the way we performed means we don't need to look to others.
"After nine matches, to be top of league with four points difference. We have also played away at Manchester United and Manchester City.
"The red card, I was seeing it coming.
"If I have to speak about the second yellow [for Ivanovic] I have to speak about lots of things - the penalty that Ivanovic should have been given [under the challenge of Chris Smalling], the accumulation of yellow cards, the throw-ins.
"I know I speak always with my heart and get in trouble.
"For me as a coach it's not fair to speak about Didier because my team was fantastic. They were brilliant."
