Arsenal make move to sign £52.7million-rated star - They already wanted to sign him last summer

Arsenal are still interested in signing Gelson Martins from Sporting Lisbon, according to the Sun.

The 23-year-old scored 13 goals last season, turning provider 13 times for his team-mates.

He was already linked with a move to the Emirates last summer.

Last year, reports claimed that then-manager Arsene Wenger wanted to make a £70million offer to sign the player as well as William Carvalho.

Back then, the Gunners faced competition from Liverpool with Juventus joining the race for the youngster this time around.

At the moment, the Bianconeri are in pole position to sign the player who wants to feature in next season's Champions League.

Arsenal will again be in the Europa League after a disappointing sixth place this season.
