Real Madrid star goes public after reports claim Arsenal will activate his buy-out clause

Arsenal target Marco Asensio says he wants to fight for a regular place at Real Madrid.

The 21-year-old has requested "emergency talks" with his club following interest from Arsenal according to the Sun.

But it seems that in the end he will stay in Spain to fight for a place in Zinedine Zidane's squad.

"I spoke with the boss, who told me to be calm and work hard at training," he said.

"He has always shown his confidence in me, always been very close to me, and happy with me.

"He wanted me to stay, I wanted to stay too, always said that, my plan was to use pre-season to win a place in the squad, and that is how it has turned out.

"I am here to fight for a place, I am available for him whenever he needs me. I am comfortable in any position in attack, either side or in the centre."
