"I like him" - Manager confirms 59-goal striker could complete Arsenal transfer before the end of the month

By

Newcastle United boss Rafa Benitez has confessed he is an admirer of Lucas Perez.

The Arsenal striker will leave the club this summer after struggling to enjoy regular first-team football last season.

He was also left bitterly disappointed following Arsene Wenger's decision to give the Number 9 jersey to Alexandre Lacazette.

Deportivo de La Coruna are also interested in the 28-year-old who scored more than 50 goals in his career.

"I like the player because I have good friends in A Coruna," Benitez is quoted as saying by the Evening Standard.

"I know that he did really well. He's come here and not played in many games, but I like the player.

"We know what we need and will try to do it until the end of the transfer window.

"We are now trying to work in different directions at the time."
