Medical passed and contract signed as Arsenal announce transfer of versatile striker who can play on both flanks

By

Arsenal striker Stephy Mavididi has joined Sky Bet Championship side Preston on a season-long loan.

The 19-year-old has been given permission by the Gunners to play in all cup competitions.

"I'm delighted to get it over the line, I'm happy to sign and now I'm ready to kick on for the new season," the youngster told Preston's official website.

"I just want to put on that shirt and run out do well. I'm buzzing, I can't wait to get started now."

Manager Alex Neil added: "I think he'll bring pace and a directness from either a wider area or a central nine.

"He's one of the players that can fluctuate between any of the top four - he can play on either flank, he's played as a ten he's played as a nine.

"I think he's a perfect fit for us certainly in terms of attributes that we like to have in the team and he'll give us that."
