Done Deal: Attacking midfielder snubs Barcelona and signs for Arsenal after agreeing personal terms with the Gunners

By

Arsenal have announced on their official website that Emile Smith Rowe has signed his first professional contract with the club.

The youngster was a target for Barcelona and Tottenham Hotspur with the Spanish giants sending scouts to monitor his progress last season.

The 16-year-old was convinced after the Gunners made it clear that he could be a first-team player in the near future.

After the contract was signed, a club statement said: "Emile, who joined us aged 10, is a pacy winger with a keen eye for goal.

"Last season he made his debut for our under-23s aged just 16, and was a regular for Kwame Ampadu's under-18s. He is also an England youth international.

"We'd like to congratulate Emile on his first professional contract and look forward to his continued progress in the year ahead."
