Offer made: Arsenal set to open negotiations to finalise transfer of international midfielder

By

Sky Sports has revealed that Sampdoria have offered £6m plus £1.5m in add-ons for Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere.

The Englishman spent last season on loan at Bournemouth, a campaign ended prematurely after he fractured his leg against Tottenham in April.

Manager Arsene Wenger said last week that the 25-year-old will be at the Emirates next season but the former Serie A champions are eager to add him to their squad.

"I think Jack will be with Arsenal next season, yes," Wenger told reporters last week.

"When he returns, he won't be far from practising with the team.

"He has to work hard to come back and fight for a place in the team."
