Manager has made personal contact over the phone to finalise shock Arsenal transfer

By

Everton boss Ronald Koeman has made personal contact to sign Olivier Giroud from Arsenal.

Metro has claimed that the Dutchman has made phone contact with the Frenchman to convince him to leave the Gunners.

The 30-year-old knows that he will not feature regularly at the Emirates now that the club has signed Alexandre Lacazette from Lyon.

On Wednesday, scout Carlo Jacomuzzi has confirmed that the Toffees are set to make a move to sign the striker.

"We are going to sign Giroud for £20m; a bargain compared to the €25million being asked for Zapata," he told Radio CRC.

The transfer will come as a shock to some since Giroud has made it clear last week that he wants to stay at Arsenal to win titles at the Emirates.

But Lacazette's transfer has changed his plans ahead of next year's World Cup Finals in Russia.
