"He has qualities that we need" - Arsene Wenger wants striker to be at Arsenal next season

By

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has rubbished rumours linking striker Olivier Giroud with a move to West Ham United.

The 67-year-old has made it clear that he wants the Frenchman to stay at the Emirates and fight for a place in his squad.

Giroud has spent most of his time on the bench last season and Wenger understands that it must have been frustrating for the 30-year-old.

But he insists that he still is part of his plan ahead of pre-season.

"It has been a frustrating season for him because he has not played a lot," Wenger declared.

"And when he has played well, he has not always played the next match.

"He has won us a lot of points when he has come on because he has scored lots of times. He has qualities that our team need."
