Arsene Wenger: This is why the Shkodran Mustafi and Lucas Perez transfers have been delayed

Manager Arsene Wenger has confirmed that the club will announce Shkodran Mustafi and Lucas Perez as new Arsenal players next week.

Recent reports have claimed that the two passed their medical on Saturday and were going to be announced later on today.

But the Frenchman says there is still paperwork to be finalised and an official announcement will be made on Monday or Tuesday.

"I think they should go through, both of them," Wenger told reporters.

"They [Shkodran Mustafi and Lucas Perez] had medicals. We have to finish the paperwork and I don't know exactly when we will announce it but look, I think it could be announced at the beginning of the week."

Asked about one of the summer signings, the Frenchman added: "Xhaka has a good touch on the game.

"He is calm, his passing is effective, he has a left foot as well so he can find as well the opposite side sometimes. He's good on the ball and he wants the ball and he's shown physical strength in his locker and he's adapted very quickly."
