Arsenal announce agreement has been reached for transfer of striker - player has already agreed personal terms

Arsenal have announced on their official website that striker Joel Campbell will join Portuguese Primeira Liga side Sporting Lisbon on a season-long loan.

The Costa Rican has never managed to secure a regular place in Arsene Wenger's squad.

Since moving to the Emirates, he was loaned out to Lorient, Betis, Olympiakos and Villarreal.

A club statement said: "The forward will be hoping he can help the Portuguese side win the Primeira after their second-placed finish last year and gain further Champions League experience.

"Everyone at Arsenal wishes Joel a successful season in Portugal.

"The move is subject to international clearance and formal ratification."
