Club boss confirms talks are underway with Arsenal to finalise deal for midfielder

By

Hertha Berlin coach Pal Dardai says he wants to sign Arsenal midfielder Serge Gnabry on loan.

The youngster has been one of the most impressive players in Brazil during the Rio Olympic Games and is determined to enjoy regular first-team football at Arsenal or elsewhere this season.

"Serge exactly meets our search parameters," Dardai told German newspaper Bild.

"Let's see what will happen in the next couple of days."

On Thursday, Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger was full of praise for the youngster as he rejected claims that he wants to loan him out this summer.

"I want to keep Serge and to extend his contract," Wenger said on Thursday morning.

"We stood by him for a long time.

"He want to West Brom and didn't get a game, and we had to to rebuild his confidence when he came back.

"I allowed him go to Rio without playing for us at all, to get him back to competition and help Germany.

"He has been here for a long time and it is important for him to stay with us."
