Revealed: The number of weeks Gabriel Paulista has to spend on the sidelines

By

Arsenal defender Gabriel Paulista could be ruled out for up to two months, the BBC has revealed.

The Brazilian suffered an ankle injury against Manchester City last week and joins Per Mertesacker on the sidelines.

Arsenal will also be without Laurent Koscielny when they host Liverpool in this week's Premier League opener at the Emirates.

The Gunners have signed Rob Holding from Bolton for a fee believed to be about £2m and the 20-year old is expected to start against Jurgen Klopp's men.

Strangely enough, Gabriel was upbeat after the injury as he revealed that the injury was "not a big problem" in an Instagram post on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, recent reports have claimed that manager Arsene Wenger is desperate to add two new defenders to his squad before the start of the Premier League.
