Dutchman in England for trial period with Arsenal ahead of potential move to the Emirates

By

Arsenal have taken highly-rated goalkeeper Guy Smit on a two-week trial and the youngster is desperate to make his mark, TEAMtalk has revealed.

The youngster opted not to extend his contract with Dutch side NEC Nijmegen and he has been invited by Arsenal for a trial period.

The 20-year-old told "De Gelderlander" that this is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity that has to be seized.

Meanwhile, reports from Italy have claimed that Wojciech Szczesny will move to Roma on a permanent basis.

The Poland international spent last season on loan with the Giallorossi and knows that he cannot secure a regular place in Arsene Wenger's squad as long as Petr Cech is fit.

The 26-year-old will become the first player to be sold during the summer transfer after the club released Mikel Arteta, Mathieu Flamini and Tomas Rosicky at the start of the month.
