Arsenal star Granit Xhaka: How I feel after missing crucial penalty for Switzerland

By

Arsenal midfielder Granit Xhaka says he will "come back even stronger" after missing from the spot in Saturday's Euro 2016 Last 16 game.

The 23-year-old opted for power as he blasted his penalty kick wide of goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski.

He was visibly disappointed at the end of the match but he says the miss will make him stronger.

"I'm sorry for my team mates, for the travelling fans, for Switzerland," Xhaka told Swiss television.

"Anyone who knows me knows that I will make sure I come back even stronger.

"I took the penalty the way I always do. But I didn't connect properly with the ball. I am still a young person, only 23. This just makes me stronger.

"And I promise I will step up at the next penalty shootout."
