Arsenal ready to get deal done for Barcelona target, talks held with his club

By

Arsenal have made contact with Atletico Mineiro regarding the transfer of Douglas Santos, Metro has revealed.

The 22-year-old defender is also a target for Barcelona but the Spanish giants are yet to make contact with the youngster's club.

He has a market transfer value of £8million and Atletico Mineiro are ready to sell the player if an offer is made.

Last year, Brazil head coach Dunga was full of praise for the left-back.

"He's a player who has grown a lot in that team," Dunga said.

"He has great power, defends well and also knows the right time to go into the attack. He also reads the game well.

"He has been a very effective player, he strikes the ball well and shows real intensity. We have to open the range of players we watch. In the Olympic selection we will have about 13 players playing at home."
