Arsenal are in the final stages of deal after club director confirms defender exit

Wolfsburg defender Ricardo Rodriguez will leave the club this summer, his club has confirmed.

The 23-year-old is a target for Arsenal and Manchester United according to reports in England with the Gunners strong favourites to sign him.

Wolfsburg's sporting director Klaus Allofs has confirmed he will not be a Wolfsburg player next season.

"Rici has stated that his future is not with us," Allofs told Blick.

"But we can live with this decision."

When asked to comment about a possible move to Arsenal, Rodriguez joked about joining Granit Xhaka at the Emirates: "That would be exciting, yes, especially because the room arrangement at Arsenal would be fixed as well."
