Robert Pires: Imagine how strong Arsenal would be if they sign this Barcelona defender target

Club legend Robert Pires says Arsenal should make a move to sign Everton defender John Stones.

The youngster is a confirmed target for Chelsea and Barcelona and is expected to leave Goodison Park during the summer transfer window.

The Frenchman believes that Arsene Wenger's squad should include more English players as they know how to cope with the physicality of the English Premier League.

"Arsenal need English players, the Premier League is very physical," Pires said at a promotional event for Standard Chartered.

"[John] Stones would be a good player for Arsenal.

"Can you imagine Stones and [Laurent] Koscielny at the back? It would be a good defence."
