By

Arsenal have announced on Twitter that winger Alex Iwobi will wear the number 17 shirt next season.

The Nigerian had the number 45 shirt this season in which he impressed when called into action by boss Arsene Wenger.

His new number became vacant after Chile's Alexis Sanchez decided to switch from his old number to number 7, left vacant by out-of-contract midfielder Tomas Rosicky.

The youngster reacted on Twitter after he found out about the change.

"Very Gutted To Let Go Of 'Big45'," Iwobi tweeted.

"However It Is An Honour To Be Given The Number 17, New Chapter In My Football Career."
