Arsenal and Manchester United get green light to sign Bayern Munich's Mario Gotze

By

Former Bayern Munich coach Ottmar Hitzfeld says coach Pep Guardiola is not fully convinced about Mario Gotze's consistency.

The 23-year-old is a target for Arsenal and Manchester United according to reports in England.

He was on the bench in last Friday's 5-0 win against Hamburg, making an appearance in the second half of the game.

Hitzfeld has criticised the club for not showing enough faith in the youngster with Arsenal and Manchester United ready to make a move to secure the services of the player before the end of the transfer window.

"If you have complete faith in Gotze, you do not go out and buy Douglas Costa," Hitzfeld told Sky Germany.

"Players like Kroos and Schweinsteiger have left Bayern. [Xabi] Alonso and [Arturo] Vidal have been brought in in return.

"Both are good players, but Bayern have been moving away from the German market and that is problematic.

"There appears to be a bit of a trend where Bayern sign too many foreign players and the German mentality gets forgotten a bit."
