Arsenal legend Marc Overmars has contacted the Gunners to sign goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny.
Now at Ajax as director of football, the Dutchman has identified the Poland international as the one to take over from Jasper Cillessen who is expected to join Manchester United.
Last week, manager Frank de Boer admitted that it will not be easy to keep the goalkeeper at the club if the Red Devils make a move.
"For us, it would be a disaster if that's going to happen because it's already very difficult to find a good goalkeeper, especially if you have the best goalkeeper in Holland," de Boer said.
"We want to keep him and he wants to stay but, if Manchester United come with a bag of money, it can be difficult.
"We have to wait, but the transfer period still has a long way to go."
